Does anyone know how to make Jamaican dumplings?

I think they are made all over the carribean islands but I know them as Jamaican dumplings.

These dumplings are easy to make really but the mix can be varied depending on final use. Simply add water to self raising flour until the dough ball just cleans the sides of your mixing bowl. Like bread the dough needs to be kneaded and the more pulling about and streaching you give it in 10 mins the better. Finally, just pull off golfball sized pieces of the dough and roll into balls for shallow or deep frying. If you use 8oz of flour then adding a 1/4 teaspoon of baking powder will give you a fluffier dumpling which is good for treating like scones i.e. with cream or butter and jam etc.

? Fluffier would make them more like scones???
